Here at the Mt Laurel cosmetic dentist practice of Koplin Dental, we understand that there’s more to dentistry than making sure teeth and gums are strong and healthy. While it’s certainly our number one priority to make sure our patients don’t have cavities, periodontal disease or other types of oral pathology, we also know that the aesthetics of your is important too, which is why we also offer an array of cosmetic dental services. Are you wanting to give your mouth’s appearance a boost without having to go through the hassle braces or porcelain veneers? Well, we have the perfect solution for you! The technique is called cosmetic dental bonding, and if you have a spare minute, we’d like to tell you a little bit about it.

When it comes to changing how your smile looks, braces and porcelain veneers are the methods people tend to know a lot about. While both are tried and true, they both cost a lot more and take longer (braces especially) than the cosmetic dental bonding we do here at the Mt Laurel cosmetic dentist practice of Koplin Dental. How does dental bonding work exactly? There are three basic steps. First, after conducting a comprehensive dental exam, your dentist will apply their expert eye to figuring out what color of resin to use. Second, as with porcelain veneers, the surface of the tooth/teeth to be repaired will be textured a little bit to help the resin stick better. Finally, the resin will be carefully sculpted to achieve the desired results and then blasted with a ray of light for hardening. All told, it’ll around 45 minutes for each tooth that needs fixing. While this may seem like an eternity, it’s really a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of time you’ll spend in the chair getting braces or veneers.

Dental bonding is good for all sorts of dental applications from addressing structural issues in decayed teeth to, as we said above, making your smile look better. Tooth Loss Mount Laurel

Tooth Loss Mount Laurel

At our Mt. Laurel family dentist we see many patients with teeth that are missing. Whatever the cause, we know this can be devastating and our compassionate staff listens to your needs and goals and suggest the best treatment options for you. When missing teeth makes it difficult to chew, a dental bridge could be the answer. A fixed bridge is a non-removable appliance that Dr. Koplin uses to replace single or multiple missing teeth. The empty space is filled with porcelain crowns (artificial teeth), that are connected to the teeth on both sides of the space. Usually requiring two to three dental visits, porcelain bridges are extremely durable and will last many years. A porcelain bridge not only restores the shape of your face but can alleviate any stress or embarrassment caused by missing teeth. A missing tooth can also be the start of other dental issues, including loss of more teeth and the shifting of adjacent teeth, which causes an imbalanced bite, difficulty chewing, and changes in the shape of your face.

The dental crown used in a bridge makes your tooth stronger, protects your tooth structure, and definitely improves your appearance. When a tooth is fractured, seriously damaged by decay, or has a large, old filling, our well-educated Mt. Laurel family dentist, at Koplin Dental, places a crown. In some cases, teeth that need crowns may also need root canals because the nerve inside the tooth has been damaged. Porcelain crowns are metal free, have a more life-like appearance, and restore a worn-down or fractured tooth to its original shade, size and shape. Replacing large fillings and protecting teeth from further breakage and decay, porcelain crown procedures usually require two appointments. Dental health is very important but we know it’s also important to be able to look your best and our knowledgeable staff is here to answer all your questions.
