If you have missing teeth that need to be replaced, you may need to get a dental bridge or dentures. Patients with missing teeth come to see us at Koplin Dental where our Marlton dental expert, Dr. Michael W. Koplin, provides them with different types of teeth replacements.

Two common forms of teeth replacement are dental bridges and dentures. When a person has a partial denture, they have multiple replacement teeth which are on a gum-colored base. The teeth are not in a row, and actually spread across the row of teeth much like a puzzle. A partial denture is secured with clips or brackets, or even with dental implants. However, a partial is also completely removable, and must be removed daily for cleaning. A full denture is a complete row of teeth that is mounted on a gum-colored base. Dentures can replace either top or bottom teeth, and can be held in place by denture adhesives or dental implants. Dentures held in place by dental implants are called implant-supported dentures. When a patient has implant-supported dentures, the dentures are very secure, and generally the patient does not have any concerns about the dentures slipping or embarrassing them in any way. The dentures are also more comfortable because the gums are not irritated by moving dentures. Bridges are also used to replace missing teeth. A permanent dental bridge is secured on either side of the replacement tooth with crowns which are permanently attached to the adjacent teeth. According to our Marlton dental expert, when you have missing teeth it is very important to have them replaced. This is because your other permanent teeth will attempt to move over to fill the space left by the missing tooth. This can cause other dental problems, and may even contribute to the loss of other teeth. Getting bridges or partial dentures will help to preserve your other permanent teeth.
